Employee engagement secrets revealed! (ish)

Whether you're managing 10 employees or 10,000, earning the commitment from an individual employee to do great work - and creating an environment as an organization for that to be possible - is challenging.

This is especially true when you're an enterprise with employees around the globe, embrace a work-from-home policy or are growing headcount and locations at a rapid pace.

This was in fact the focus of the February installment of the #TorontoHR meetup series, made possible by TemboStatus and Breather.

This morning's keynote was led by Ashley Dalziel, VP of People and Culture for Freshii. Freshii's growth has been explosive, with more than 300 locations in 15 countries and 80 cities globally. Informed by experiences as a global talent leader for lululemon, Ashley shared a peek at the inner workings of an organization that won The Canadian HR Awards coveted Best Workplace Culture title for 2016.

Ashley shared how Freshii manages a decentralized workforce that remains aligned with a central vision of what culture means for employees and customers alike. One of the biggest take aways from Ashley’s remarks is that there’s no secret sauce. You need to try, fail, iterate and scale. It’s not an annual only exercise - it’s an ongoing, everyday conversation, with your people about your culture.

I was also excited to reveal the results of a new study of 1,600 employers by #HRWins that outlines the 5 critical capabilities for employers focused on engagement and performance - whether employees work remotely or in the office.
