The Real Cost of Jerks

Wednesday, June 21 | 8:00-9:30am

We’ve all met well-meaning jerks who are often right and almost always believe they have the organization’s best interest at heart but leave a trail of human carnage behind them.

In this next installment of the #TorontoHR series, Daneal Charney will share how brilliant jerks cause distress, trigger turnover and sick leaves, and tarnish your brand reputation. The stakes can get higher, when the board gets involved, when investors don’t want to deal with you, or when a nasty termination escalates to a human rights case. You may want to retain the stellar developer, designer or product manager, but at what cost? As the HR leader of your organization, how do you deal with these brilliant jerks?

What your #TorontoHR peers are saying

"I liked the fact that there were breakout sessions and it wasn't just a lecture. The topic was very relevant and timely for me, and I also found a lot of value in hearing about challenges and strategies in industries very different from my own."

"A lot of the tips/advice will be useful to me in my current role and in any future role I take on."

"It was valuable having HR representatives from small early stage start ups to established organizations so that we could get a view on the various pain points they face and brainstorm how the content can be translated for their specific organizational needs."
